国外瑶族婚姻习俗与中国境内的瑶族婚俗大同小异。越南瑶族的结婚方式与中国西南的瑶族基本相同，只是婚礼十分隆重，以表示女儿的身价高及其家庭的富有。老挝瑶族的婚姻和越南的差别不大。泰国则根据不同经济条件，婚礼仪式多达四种：最隆重的是“独西”要进行7天。其次为“小做”，1、2天不等。最后是入赘，女方办婚礼，但给男方的聘礼仅有女嫁男家所得的一半。在美国等西方国家的瑶 ，因为条件好些，其隆重程度一般可能要高一些，但其传统程序要求也无多大更变。
